Nick Cave Discloses Songs He Wants Played At His Funeral

In a post on his Red Hand Files website, Nick Cave has revealed that he wants an Elvis Presley themed funeral.

The website is a space where fans can ask Cave questions, and he will answer them – unmoderated. The Elvis-themed revelation was revealed in a fan-asked question where they said:

“My dad passed away a couple of weeks ago and we gave him an Elvis themed funeral. No, we didn’t dress up in white jumpsuits, but his coffin had Elvis pictures and lyrics, and Elvis songs were played for him.”

“I don’t know if anyone has asked you this before in The Red Hand Files, but what songs would you like played at your own funeral?”

Cave responded:

“I was very moved by your letter. Im sure your dad would have been very happy with his Elvis themed funeral.”

“Thinking about it, I would be very happy with one too — to be ushered into the next world by the voice of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singer of them all.”

“‘Kentucky Rain’, thats what Id like, ‘Kentucky Rain’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’ — Elvis singing gospel, with heaven and all its angels listening.”

“It was a lovely thing to do for your dad. Sounds like you did a great job.”

Earlier in the year, Cave also revealed the news of his newest record Carnage via The Red Hand Files. The record, the follow-up to 2019’s Ghosteen, was released in February and was made with his Bad Seeds bandmate, Warren Ellis.
