Palms and The Gooch Palms Embark On ‘Palmarama’ National Tour

In what is sure to be the tongue-twisting tour of the year, Sydney crew Palms and their Newcastle brethren The Gooch Palms are hitting the road together for a tropical national tour. The aptly named Palmarama National Tour will hit stages from late February all through March next year.

Both Palms and The Gooch Palms released their debut albums in late 2013 (Step Brothers and Novo’s respectively) and have played to eager crowds nation-wide during their album tours. Over the past couple of years both bands have played the Big Day Out, featured on the Aussie remake of the Nuggets compilation, have toured the country up and down, shared beers, laughs and crashed on each other’s lounges.

The two bands have even shared a member, Leroy from The Gooch Palms was once the bass player in Palms and according to the band contributed a bass line or two on Step Brothers. They have not yet, however, shared a spot on the same bill and Palmarama is shaping up to be an even bigger tour than both bands have done previously with the double headliner stretching the length of Australia and back.

The nine date tour will give Palms the hometown advantage, beginning the tour in sunny Sydney and will wrap up in The Gooch Palms’ steel city of Newcastle, with plenty of stops along the way. And to keep it exciting, the bands will battle it out with a thumb war each night to see who will play last.
