Police Officer Allegedly Caught With Drugs At Stereosonic Quits The Force

A police officer from North Queensland has quit her job after allegedly being caught with drugs at the Brisbane leg of Stereosonic 2015 over the weekend.

As the ABC reports, the 26-year-old officer was being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, but Queensland Police say the woman has since quit the force.

In a statement, Queensland Police say the officer “will not be subject of a disciplinary investigation concerning allegations of misconduct” because she has now resigned, but the woman is still due to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 5th January 2016.

The officer was one of about 130 people arrested on drug charges at Stereosonic in Brisbane, where 20 people were also treated for drug overdoses.

The officer’s resignation comes after 25-year-old Sylvia Choi died after taking drugs at Stereosonic in Sydney and and 19-year-old Stefan Woodward died after taking drugs at the festival in Adelaide. Senator Nick Xenophon is calling for a coronial inquest into how Mr Woodward died.

Ambulance officers who worked during Stereosonic 2015 have said extra ambulance staff and security were hired, but this didn’t stop punters from taking drugs.
