Portugal. The Man’s Stolen Gear Returned Through Social Network Hunt

Psychedelic rockers Portugal. The Man have had some of their gear returned this week after having their van robbed and stolen while appearing at Lollapalooza earlier this month.

After the robbery, the band put the word out about the theft via Twitter, the tweet read, “HELP People of Chicago and @Lollapalooza our van & trailer & gear where stolen. Red Ford Van, Black trailer Alaska plates FJH244.” They also included a list of gear.

Fans and media got on the hunt, giving updates and posts about the gear they’ve spotted as well as a description of the van and its location. Singer John Gourley has reported that some of the gear was found by police in two rooms at a house.

Through the power of social networking and an awesome fan base they’ve managed to cross off most of the list, and recently posted a thank you on their website, to everyone involved with the recovery, especially the Chicago Police

Portugal. The Man will be playing American dates in September and October and are under a bit of pressure to get their gear back before then!
