The Preatures Played A Secret Splendour Warm-Up Show Last Night

Ahead of their final performance with guitarist Gideon Bensen at Splendour In The Grass this weekend, Sydney rockers The Preatures treated a small crowd of fans and industry peeps to a secret Splendour warm-up show last night, where they reportedly showed off some new material.

Footage and photos have emerged from The Preatures’ secret set at Sydney venue The Oxford Circus, which was supported by Hair Die and Wild Honey. It was The Preatures’ last hometown show with Bensen, who is leaving the band after Splendour in order to pursue a solo career.

Larry Heath from the AU review, who attended the show, took to Instagram to say that while it might be the best performance he’s ever seen the band give, it was also “a bittersweet event”.

Heath said the band teased new tracks from an upcoming album which Benson doesn’t feature on, alongside some fan favourites and some covers, including one of Divinyls’ Boys In Town.

“This was the final hometown show with the full original lineup… New songs are sounding great though,” Heath said.

While The Preatures’ intimate Splendour warm-up show wasn’t publicly advertised, the band did post this cheeky tweet earlier this week, as a sneaky hint that something cool was about to happen:
