PREMIERE: Jas. Makes Moves on the UK Garage-Influenced ‘Checkmate’

Melbourne/Naarm electronic pop musician Jas. will release her new single, the UK garage influenced ‘Checkmate’, on Friday, 27th October. It’s the follow-up single to ‘EASY’, and is coming out via Hy-Lo Creative. Music Feeds is premiering the track – listen below.

Over slinky drum programming and phasing synths, Jas. compares the early stages of a relationship to a game of chess. “When you’re getting to know someone, you’re constantly making calculated moves, waiting to see how they respond,” Jas. said in a statement. “But when you’ve decided that you want someone, waiting for them to admit they feel the same is like waiting for your opponent to call checkmate.”

Jas. released her debut EP, Along the Way, in 2022. Its lead single, ‘Wish You Well’, featured in various Spotify and Apple playlists and received airtime on FBi and triple j. Jas. has indicated that ‘Checkmate’ is the first of many releases to come over the next few months.
