Rilo Kiley Break Up

American Indie rockers Rilo Kiley have broken up after they were apparently driven apart by “deception, disloyalty [and] greed”, according to guitarist Blake Sennett.

Talking to spinner, Sennett “I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, ‘I’m not going to put myself in that position again,’ so I said, ‘F— that, I can’t do this anymore.'” “That being said,” he continues, “it was probably immature and that came from a place of ego. I think that stuff will rear its head in anything you do, depending on the personnel you surround yourself with; things change overtime and people change and relationships change.”

Sennett made it clear that he didn’t want to point any fingers at specific band members, including frontwoman Jenny Lewis, who’s had a successful solo career working with the likes of Conor Oberst, M.Ward, Ben Gibbard, The Watson Twins and recently with her boyfriend Johnathan Rice. But what he did make clear was that he felt it wasn’t the same band they had started in 1998.

Rilo Kiley’s last release was 2007’s Under the Blacklight
