RISSA Enters Her Romantic Era With Dreamy New Single ‘Don’t Be Long’

After spending the past year unpacking heartbreak in painstaking detail, RISSA is stepping into something softer, brighter and a whole lot more romantic.

The Polynesian Australian R&B powerhouse has today returned with her dreamy new single Don’t Be Long – a warm, groove-soaked release that feels tailor-made for sunset drives, main-character delusions and anyone who’s ever dramatically stared out a car window pretending they were in a music video.

RISSA – ‘Don’t Be Long’

Honestly? RISSA gets it.

Produced by trans-Tasman duo Edy Liu and Chunkyluv, Don’t Be Long trades the emotional heaviness of RISSA’s 2025 EP WHERE LOVE ONCE WAS for something far more weightless and hopeful. Glittering piano melodies float over sun-drenched production while RISSA’s silky vocals and airy harmonies glide effortlessly across the track’s smooth bass-driven pulse.

“The song conveys my freedom and desire for what love can be,” RISSA explains. “Collaborating with Edy Liu and Chunkyluv, we’ve created something for romantics and romanticisers alike.”

“For anyone who’s ever put on a song and pretended they were in the music video – Don’t Be Long was made to be all that.”

And honestly? That may be the single most accurate description of modern R&B consumption ever written.

The accompanying video leans fully into that energy too, filmed across the backroads of Pitt Town Bottoms in Sydney and capturing the same sense of carefree warmth and emotional openness running through the track itself.

The release arrives at a pretty major moment for RISSA overall, with the Western Sydney artist currently preparing to make her international live debut in London later this month – including performances at SXSW London – following her first-ever national headline tour across Australia.

At this point, the numbers behind the rise are getting pretty hard to ignore too.

With more than 25 million streams under her belt and support from triple j, Double J, NOVA, CADA and more, RISSA has steadily become one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary R&B voices — blending gospel-rooted emotion with modern soul and sleek alt-pop textures in a way that feels both deeply personal and globally accessible.

Fans of Snoh Aalegra, Olivia Dean and RAYE are probably going to want this on immediate rotation.

And if Don’t Be Long is any indication, RISSA’s next chapter might be her brightest one yet. Take it for a spin up above.
