SG Lewis Drops New Single ‘Chemicals’ And It’s A Groove

British producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis has marked his return today, with brand new single ‘Chemicals’.

‘Chemicals’ is Lewis’ first drop since the release of his three-pronged Dusk, Dark, Dawn EPs, which saw him collaborate with AlunaGeorge, Clairo and even Aussie wunderkind Ruel.

“‘Chemicals’ is about being convinced to try something new by someone you are infatuated with, and the emotions that follow,” said Lewis in a press statement.

“It’s about feeling helpless knowing the control that person has over you, but knowing that deep down you love that fact. The song is written about one specific night out I experienced in London a while back. I started the song late one night in LA with Julian Bunetta, then Steph Jones helped us lyric the song the next day. Finally, Julian and I were working with Chad (Hugo, N*E*R*D / The Neptunes) the next week, and we got him to play the synth line you hear.”

Lewis has also revealed that ‘Chemicals’ is the first taste we’ve gotten of his debut album, the details around which are still unknown.

When Music Feeds caught up with Lewis in 2018, he spoke to us about his love of collaboration which means you can expect some other familiar voices to pop up on the album.

“You get to take a part of that person’s creativity and talent, and you get to work that into something that they wouldn’t necessarily do with you, and you wouldn’t necessarily do without them,” he said.

“It’s the combining of these two things that creates something brand new. I’ve made music on my own before and it’s just not really as fun. I just love the process of collaborating and working with other talents. I think one of my strengths is to get the best out of an artist that I’m working with.”
