Sigur Rós Are Teasing Something Happening Early Tomorrow Morning

Icelandic band Sigur Rós have uploaded a looped visual to their website suggesting that new music may be on its way.

While it gives away very little, it says “#SigurRosRouteOne” and is accompanied with a time “21.00 GMT” which is 7am AEST.

The trio haven’t released an album since 2013’s Kveikur but they have been teasing the existence of new music for a while and played a new song Óveður at Primavera Sound in Spain.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess whether #RouteOne will be a new song, a full album or something completely different. Sigur Rós have always worked in mysterious ways.

They have put up an Instagram of trucks and satellites with the caption “#RouteOne” which means it’s either going to be something incredibly complex or that they’ve just posted it to put us off the scent. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out.

If it is new music, you’ll likely hear it when they’re here for Splendour In The Grass and if it’s not there’s still a chance you’ll hear them play new music at Splendour.

Set your alarms and tune into the live stream at 7am AEST.
