Sigur Ros Unveil ‘The Rains Of Castamere’ Cover For ‘Game Of Thrones’

Iceland’s finest post-rockers, Sigur Ros, have unveiled a highly atmospheric and chilling cover of The Rains Of Castamere for an upcoming episode of the hit HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, which has developed partnerships with many popular musicians, including members of Coldplay.

In September 2013, it was confirmed that the band’s three core members would have a cameo in the fourth season of GoT, with the announcement made earlier this month that the guys would lend their musical chops to a composition originally penned by series composer Ramin Djawadi.

The track also features lyrics by George R.R. Martin, who wrote the series of novels on which the show is based. The track appeared many times during the show’s first three seasons, including a version performed by American indie outfit The National, featured on the Season 2 soundtrack.
