Soft Play Unleash Kate Nash Collab ‘Slushy’ Off New Deluxe Album

Hot on the heels of releasing their first album in six years Heavy Jelly in 2024, UK duo Soft Play have announced an expanded edition of the UK #3 charting LP, featuring six new tracks. Dubbed Heavier Jelly, the deluxe version of the record will reach our ears on Friday, 18th April.

In honour of the announcement, the punk icons have unleashed one of the LP’s fresh tracks, a collab with English singer-songwriter Kate Nash dubbed ‘Slushy’ (listen below).

The track is brimming with rampaging proto-punk / garage rock power, as Nash and Soft Play frontman Isaac Holman trade sweetly savage call-and-response barbs.

It and the five other unreleased tracks off Heavier Jelly were recorded during the original album sessions, as well as more recent studio visits.

“These songs are the bastard children of Heavy Jelly, strange experimentations/ delusions that didn’t fit the mould,” Soft Play’s Laurie Vincent explains in a press statement. “I’m excited for our fans to get a glimpse into some more music that came from the world of Heavy Jelly. Strap in.”

You can pre-order Heavier Jelly right here.
