Soundwave 2015 Lineup Announced Wednesday Morning

UPDATE 20/08/14: The Soundwave Festival 2015 lineup has arrived! Full details here.

After months of speculation around the lineup and when said lineup will finally be in the hands of fans, the acts playing Soundwave 2015 will finally be announced on Wednesday, 20th August. Festival promoter AJ Maddah had previously stated that the lineup would arrive in August.

[UPDATE 19/08/14 10:54am: Soundwave organisers have confirmed that the lineup will be announced some time after 8am AEST Wednesday. Time to set those alarms!]

There had previously been speculation that the lineup would arrive earlier this month, but Maddah was quick to quash the rumours. As a consolation, Soundwave and Music Feeds teamed up to unveil The First Wave – five up-and-coming bands we announced over five days earlier this month.

In addition to the First Wave bands — Coldrain, Patent Pending, Butcher Babies, Monuments, The Interrupters — Maddah had previously confirmed that Melbourne-based heavy music heroes Confession and Ne Obliviscaris would be forging mosh pits and bursting eardrums next February.

Some of the bands hotly rumoured for the 2015 lineup include punk rockers Rise Against, whose frontman, Tim McIlrath, revealed an Aussie return is penciled in for February and March 2015. Also looking likely are local boys The Bennies and melodic hardcore five-piece Evergreen Terrace.

Long-rumoured Swedish metal outfit Opeth recently confirmed to Music Feeds that they had declined Maddah’s offer to join the 2015 tour. Frontman Mikael Akerfeldt said he would prefer to do a headline tour of Australia instead. He said the band were eyeing “early next year” for a return.
