Splendour In The Grass 2013 Lineup Leaks, Rumours & Confirms – The Final Countdown

So here we are, less than 12 hours out from the official Splendour In The Grass lineup announcement for 2013, and y’all are chomping at the bit to know exactly who’s on the bill.

Over the last couple of months we’ve been updating a list of all the hottest rumours about just who’s fronting to Byron but, to be honest, it’s a bit of a mess now, so we’ve got a nice little rundown right here distilling our best tips just for you.

UPDATE: The complete Splendour lineup has been revealed! Check out the details here.

Now’s the time for you to back out if you don’t want to spoil tomorrow’s announcement – you have been warned!

OK. Still with us? Let’s start with who’s ACTUALLY confirmed. We know that The Polyphonic Spree are in, thanks to Tim DeLaughter‘s tweet earlier this year. He was the first to head up a wave of artist self-confirms, with James Blake, Cold War Kids, Wavves and Airbourne all following suit.

After being rumoured off the back of the Wavves announcement, we got an accidental confirm this morning as Fidlar posted an announcement on their Facebook page, only to quickly delete it again. Just recently we also got news that Aussie stoner dons The Growl have confirmed their SITG appearance, after the cats over at Tone Deaf got the scoop in an interview to be published soon.

So what about the rest? We know Alt-J are coming back Down Under – they’re a perfect fit for the festival and their dates sit nicely with Splendour, so they’re sitting atop our rumour list. Jake Bugg is almost a guaranteed lock with his track being featured in the Splendour venue and date announcement video.

Frank Ocean looks like a go, after a tweet from promoter John Denison placing him in Byron for July. Of Monsters And Men told Triple M a while ago that they’ll be back for another tour in winter, and we’d love to see them play Splendour. We’re also putting money on Deap Vally, despite the fact they neither confirmed nor denied during their interview with Music Feeds earlier this month.

So now the disappointing news – Bob Dylan and Big Boi are definitely out, with clashing international dates. CHVRCHES gave triple j the news earlier that they’re only here for headlining dates in July. Phoenix also confirmed that they’re coming back to Australia, but much later in the year.

Bjork and Kendrick Lamar are both at Splendour precursor Fuji Rock that weekend, but smack bang in the middle, meaning they just won’t have time to hit Australia. We’re also sad to boot The Cure, Nine Inch Nails and The xx off our Fuji Rock potentials – all those guys are playing in at Ansan in Korea on the Saturday, making a trip to Australia nigh on impossible.

Now, about The National – supposedly they confirmed to triple j journo Samantha Clode that they’re going to be hitting up Splendour, with Clode tweeting the good news on 16th April. With a gap in their schedule and a new album on the horizon, they seemed a perfect fit. Since that time, however, Clode has deleted her tweet and The National have been strangely silent on the issue. Something’s fishy, and we’re relegating them to likely. We’ll see tomorrow.

And that, as they say, is that. You can check out our condensed and revised list below, and hope that we’re getting our prayers answered tomorrow! See you at 8:00am!
