Taylor Swift Donates 250K To Kesha To Help Fight Her Legal Battle Against Sony & Dr Luke

A number of prominent artists have come out in support of Kesha over the last few days, after a New York court denied the singer a motion to release her from her record contract with record label Sony and accused rapist, Dr. Luke. Taylor Swift has also reportedly thrown her support behind the Tik Tok singer, with a big financial donation.

“In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated [US] $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time,” Taylor’s spokesperson said in a statement. In Australian dollars that figure equates to just under $346,000.

Kesha’s mom also confirmed the news tweeting, “Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000 to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time.AMAZING!!

“A persons wealth is not measured by what they have but by WHO they they help with it. And Taylor Swift is is a truly RICH PERSON. Thank you”

Ke$ha first filed a civil lawsuit against her former manager and producer Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) back in 2014, alleging that she was mentally, physically and sexually abused by him for years. Dr. Luke has filed a countersuit against Kesha, denying her accusations and claiming that she is trying to extort him in order to get out of her contract.

Last Friday, a judge denied Kesha’s request to be released from her record contract with the label, which stipulates that Kesha must record eight more albums with Sony and will not be able to work with another company until she has done so. It means essentially that she must also continue working with Dr. Luke, her alleged rapist.

Since the ruling thousands of fans and many artists have rallied behind her, including Lorde, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Demi Lovato, Savage Garden’s Darren Hayes all proliferating the hashtag: #FreeKesha.

Taylor Swift, however, remained quiet, her silence drawing criticism by some.

Neither Taylor Swift, nor Kesha have yet commented on the 1989 singer’s financial donation.
