Teenage Joans Announce Premiere Screenings For Debut Short Film

Teenage Joans have announced three premiere screenings for their debut short film, an indie-horror accompaniment to their debut studio album The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest. The screenings will take place in cinemas across Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide next month, with the band also doing an acoustic performance at each show and a post-screening Q&A with the audience.

Tickets for the screenings, all taking place in early February, are available for purchase now – including an optional signed film poster package. All dates and ticketing information for the screenings are available below.

The aptly-titled short film, The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest (The Film), was directed by Jamie Al Kayyali and stars the band – guitarist Cahli Blakers and drummer Tahlia Borg – playing fictionalised versions of themselves. The pair are exploring the mysterious world of Rotland, where they encounter the Easter Bunny (Blakers) and the Tooth Fairy (Borg).

A trailer for the film has also been released, which can be viewed below.

Teenage Joans released The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest in October 2023 via Domestic La La Records, the indie label headed up by former Violent Soho guitarist James Tidswell. The Adelaide pop-punk duo released several singles in the lead-up to its release, including ‘Superglue’ and ‘Candy Apple’.

A supporting national tour for the album followed that November, with the band playing some of their biggest headlining shows to date. The band wrapped up 2023 by performing at the Grapevine Gathering festival and supporting the Foo Fighters on select dates of their stadium tour.
