The Abercrombie is Hosting a 15 Hour Party to Celebrate One Year Since it Reopened

Sydney venue The Abercrombie Hotel have shared details of a non-stop, 15-hour party to be held this weekend (December 23) to commemorate a full year of being open again following a near-decade of inactivity.

The “1st Birthday” party will commence at 6pm on Saturday night, and run through to 9am on Christmas Eve. It will feature DJ sets from various groups and individuals from the Sydney dance music community at large; the full line-up is available below, and the final release of tickets are available now via Moshtix.

“It’s hard to believe that it was only a year ago that we were opening our doors for the first time in eight years,” a statement from the venue said. “We are celebrating our first birthday by bringing together some of the curators, creatives, and crews that have shaped our community into what it is.

“We wanted to take this time to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of bringing [the] Abercrombie back to life.”

As previously reported by Music Feeds, The Abercrombie Hotel was originally built and was opened in 1938 in the central Sydney suburb of Chippendale. It closed down in 2014 before its acquisition by hospitality group Solotel in 2016. Solotel, which is co-owned by chef Matt Moran and hotelier Bruce Solomon, had originally planned to reopen the venue in 2018. Several delays were incurred following the purchase, however, including the COVID-19 pandemic putting restrictions on both nightclub attendance and construction work.
