Following the unveiling of their new single Two Tone Melody on triple j this afternoon, Sydney’s The Preatures have dropped a national Australian tour announcement for this July, while they’re back home to play Splendour In The Grass 2014.
The Preatures have been earning popular and critical acclaim both abroad and at home after a recent stint in the US playing stages at SXSW, Coachella and a televised performance on US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Sydney quintet were also named in today’s APRA Music Awards nominations, their massive hit Is This How You Feel? nabbing a top five spot for APRA Song of The Year.
The slow-burning Two Tone Melody, says lead singer Isabella Manfredi, was initially conceived while spending time at the home of Australian rocker Simon Day of Ratcat.
“I liked the way the lyrics and melody fit together,” she says. “It felt effortless which is really hard to fabricate. The rest of it came pretty easily after that. I wrote it about being in love. It’s a love song.”
After this tour, the band will be heading back overseas to Bonnaroo and more dates in the US, then for a UK tour and a coveted slot on this year’s Glastonbury festival. With The Preatures’ much-anticipated debut album slated for release later this year, 2014 is set to be better than it ever could be for fans.
