Following on from the release of their third album, First Impressions of Earth five years ago, The Strokes have just revealed that their as yet untitled fourth album, currently in the mixing process will be released in March this year.
Speaking to the BBC, bassist Nickolai Fraiture has said the album will have a ‘classic sound’ and that he thinks that ‘sonically, I feel it’s the album which should have been made between Room is on Fire and First Impressions of Earth.” While the album may reflect their previous work, Fraiture has pointed out that this time around the creative process was different, with singer Julian Casablancas recording his vocals separately from the rest of the band. “Usually, we’re always in a room and changing stuff and doing it all together,” he said. “It’s all a learning experience.”
The band are planning a massive world tour in support of the release, having already confirmed headline slots at Spain’s Benicàssim in July and Japan’s Summer Sonic 2011 in August.
