Splendour Headliners The Strokes Just Dropped A New EP ‘Future Present Past’

Written by Tom Williams on May 27, 2016

The Strokes have shared a brand new four-track EP titled Future Present Past, after teasing fans with the prospect of new music throughout the last week.

The Future Present Past EP marks the first new music from Julian Casablancas and company since their 2013 album Comedown Machine, which many fans remember as a bit of a disappointment. The EP was unveiled part-by-part overnight, with the band revealing new tracks Drag Queen, OBLIVIUS and Threat Of Joy, as well as a remix of OBLIVIUS by Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Stream the EP in full, below.

Future Present Past was recorded over the past year in New York City and Austin, Texas, with the help of producer Gus Oberg. What’s more, The Strokes are still working on even more new material, leading many fans to hope a new album is in the works.

The arrival of Future Present Past was preceded by a series of mysterious Strokes-related projections and videos which appeared in the streets of New York and London this week, which led fans to expect new material sooner rather than later.

Future Present Past is currently streaming via Spotify (below) and is set for physical and full digital release on Friday, 3rd June, before The Strokes head down under to headline Splendour In The Grass this July.

The band have also shared a ‘A Conversation With The Strokes’ video on YouTube, which is pretty much nine minutes of them casually hanging out and talking about Future Present Past. Catch that below as well.
