Typically rugby league fans and fans of musical theatre don’t overlap but there’s a musical set to tour Australia that might just force them to.
Saterical comedian and singer Denis Carnahan is taking Rugby League: The Musical around the country promising a “live interactive musical video cabaret burlesque” that combines original songs with parodies of popular ones.
Footy fans will probably have come across Carnahan’s work before. He penned the viral song That’s In Queensland about the State Of Origin and has also had his work featured everywhere from The Footy Show to ABC’s Grandstand.
He’s announced a huge 35 date run of shows covering Queensland and NSW extensively. He’s also heading over to New Zealand for a few shows to see if the footy humour translates there.
It all kicks off on 17th July in Dubbo and it will run right through until September which is just a few weeks before the actual NRL season wraps up.
