This That Festival Drops 2018 Lineup, Releases Statement On Sticky Fingers’ Inclusion

UPDATE: Sticky Fingers Withdraw From This That Festival’s 2018 Lineup, Following Backlash

ORIGINAL STORY: Newcastle’s This That festival has unveiled its 2018 lineup, while also releasing a statement about divisive Sydney band Sticky Fingers’ inclusion on the bill.

Now in its fourth year, This That has announced Sticky Fingers alongside the likes of singer-songwriter Amy Shark, rapper Illy and producer RL Grime on its 2018 roster, which contains a total of 16 local and international acts.

Sticky Fingers’ spot on the lineup arrives as the band prepare to wrap up a world tour, which began after bassist Paddy Cornwall threatened Indigenous musician Thelma Plum in a lengthy tirade back in May.

In April, the band issued their “final” statement regarding allegations of racism and violence against frontman Dylan Frost, before he was removed from a Sydney pub following a verbal altercation.

In a statement to Music Feeds regarding Sticky Fingers’ inclusion on the bill, This That organisers said:

“The This That team do not condone abuse and strive to create a safe and welcoming space for all those attending the festival.

“The team is aware of the rumours and allegations surrounding recent behaviour of some of the members of the band Sticky Fingers.

“This That will not be commenting further on the band’s personal matters.”

Returning to Newcastle’s Wickham Park this November, the festival will also feature sets from the likes of Safia, The Rubens, Thandi Phoenix, Boo Seeka and GoldLink.
