Tkay Maidza Drops New George Maple Collab ‘Simulation’

Tkay Maidza has served up another dazzler off her forthcoming debut album, TKAY.

Dubbed Simulation, the soulful dance-pop number was co-written by the Aussie hip-hop kween, alongside her DJ and producer LK McKay and the one and only George Maple.

Tkay says the track is about overcoming complacency and “hoping to find something real after everything that is calculated and planned disappears”.

“It’s so common that people get lazy when they feel content because they have partially achieved their goals and are living the way they dreamt about, thus beginning to think it’ll last forever,” she says. “I have noticed that things constantly change, so when something doesn’t go to plan it’s like cracks in the simulation become visible.”

The songs comes hot on the heels of the previous two jewels in her album crown, thumping tennis shoe ode Tennies and Killer Mike collab Carry On.

Tkay Maidza’s debut album TKAY is set to drop next Friday, 28th October, with Tkay explaining that the idea behind the LP is to “soundtrack… a high school girl’s life”.

“It’s about feeling lost but then finding your way out,” she says. “There are moments of confidence and moments of feeling lonely, but at the same time knowing that you don’t need anyone or anything to be strong.”

Catch Tkay Maidza touring around the country throughout October and November, and performing at a slew of Aussie festival dates this summer, including Southbound and Field Day.
