Tom Morello Responds To Backlash After Throwing Fan’s Phone From The Stage

Written by Caitlin Medcalf on June 19, 2019

Over the weekend, Tom Morello caused controversy at 101WKQX’s Piqniq at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Tinley Park, Illinois by launching a fan’s phone from the stage into the crowd.

During the show, the Rage Against The Machine guitarist invited some of the crowd members to join him onstage. It was during a guitar solo that a fan took out their phone and tried to take a selfie with Morello. Mid-solo, he reached for their phone, pelted it into the crowd and continued on with his solo.

He’s received backlash from fans due to the incident, and has since responded to said backlash, saying:

In another tweet, he notes that the person was in the end reunited with their phone.

Please enjoy the following series of tweets from Morello fans asking him to destroy their phones.
