Looks like we’re not the only ones around here with a bit of a jones for Ricky Gervais, with American recording artist Toro Y Moi hitting SoundCloud with his rendition of Slough, originally performed by Gervais’s most spectacularly obnoxious character, David Brent.
Toro Y Moi, aka Chazwick Bradley Bundick, showed a bit of love for the UK by uploading his own version of The Best Boss Ever’s ode to his much-maligned hometown. Gervais originally released Slough back in June as part of the Learn Guitar With David Brent series, singing the praises of the industrial city with lyrics like “It keeps the businesses of Britain great/It’s got Europe’s biggest trading estate”.
Bundick’s cover is actually a pretty joyous experience, complete with the note “Dear Ricky, Hope you like this cover. Peace, Chaz.” We just got that little bit more excited about the 2014 Big Day Out, at which you’ll be able to catch Toro Y Moi’s brand of awesome in the flesh.
