Watch Metallica’s James Hetfield Cover An Adele Song With His Teenage Daughter

Not a known giver of fucks, thrash metal god James Hetfield of Metallica fame has gone just gone Von Trapp on our asses, trading in his drop-tuned Explorer for an acoustic six-string to perform a surprise rendition of pop songstress Adele‘s tune Crazy For You with his 16-year-old daughter.

The touching daddy-daughter duet took place at the second annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit concert, a paediatric cancer fundraising event organised by Hetfield in partnership with second-least popular Van Halen frontman, Sammy Hagar, in San Francisco.

Footage of the performance shows Papa Hetfield looking proud as punch as he introduces his daughter, Cali, to the crowd. “Say hi to my beautiful daughter Cali,” he says. And when Cali fails to acknowledge the greeting, Hetfield goes totally parental and chides her to say hi back, before launching into the ballad from Adele’s acclaimed 19 album.

According to Rolling Stone, other guests at the charity event included Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, Linda Perry, Train’s Pat Monahan, Hagar’s Chickenfoot bandmate Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and actor Adam Sandler.

But the roar that the Hetfield family got from the crowd was more Die, Die My Darling than Do-Re-Mi if you know what we mean.

Let’s just agree that James Hetfield is Master Of Dads.
