Watch The Musicians Behind The ‘Animal Crossing’ Theme Reunite For Socially-Distanced Performance

Peak wholesome content alert.

If you’ve been self-isolating with the help of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the latest iteration of the life simulation franchise,  you’ll recall the gentle, tropical bop that plays as you launch the game before continuing on to your little slice of island paradise.

Now, Nintendo have shared a video that sees the musicians responsible for the theme song performing it together from their respective homes over Zoom, bopping along to the relaxing tune. The split-screen video is edited and synced up to show which instrument is being played at any given time – from the flugelhorn to the accordion, double bass to the ukulele.

It’s as delightful a gift as you would expect from a game that’s been as much of a balm in these wild times as AC:NH has been. The Nintendo Switch game has sold something like 13 million copies since its release back in March, and provided users a bit of joyful escapism – not to mention an opportunity to connect with one another – while many of us are separated from those we love due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Check out the Animal Crossing: New Horizons theme song being performed below.
