Alanis Morissette‘s seminal album Jagged Little Pill still cops heavy rotation on all our playlists, and now the musical that it has inspired is finally coming to Australia!
In case you’re unfamiliar with the synopsis of Jagged Little Pill: The Musical, let Morissete explain to you herself.
“This Jagged Little Pill musical is the story of the Healy family and a lot of the beautiful and harrowing and complicated and heartwarming and healing that can happen in a community and a family when we rally together, and the effects of what it is when we’re disconnected,” Morissette said in a YouTube video giving the announcement, saying the musical was nine years in the making.
The musical, whose book is written by Diablo Cody with choreography from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, was nominated for 15 Tony Awards, and won the Grammy award for ‘Best Musical Theater Album’ at the 2021 ceremony.
As of right now, the musical is so far only coming to Sydney’s Theatre Royal, set to premiere this September. While the cast hasn’t been revealed quite yet, Morissette said, via Daily Telegraph that she’ll be involved in picking the Australian cast herself.
Tickets for the musical are set to go on sale in May, and you can join the waitlist for first access now via the musical’s official website.
