Nirvana have played their first show in almost 20 years, fronted by none other than Sir Paul McCartney. Former Nirvana bandmates Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl took to the stage together with the former Beatle to debut the new song Cut Me Some Slack during 12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief
The new song was co-written by McCartney, Grohl and co. from a recent jam session and is “the first song from the album. Sound CIty – Real to Reel“. Speaking about the jam session with Madison Square Garden before Nirvana joined him onstage, McCarney said, “And then I realise I was in a Nirvana reunion”
Only a matter of hours ago Grohl tweeted a cryptic message that read ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ via his Sound City Movie Twitter Account. It would now seem as though Cut Me Some Slack is the title of the freshly debuted track.
This morning Novoselic took to his official Twitter account and posted that McCartney and the reformed Nirvana has co-written a new song that sounds somewhere in-between The Beatles’ Helter Skelter and Nirvana’s Scentless Apprentice.
“It is a new song that’s kind of Helter Skelter meets Scentless Apprentice. It rocks with a heavy groove. St. Paul is powerful. @Pontifex”, Novoselic tweeted.
Yesterday The Sun fuelled rumours that McCartney had been invited by former Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters‘ frontman Dave Grohl to come “jam with some mates”. McCartney soon found himself playing with Grohl, Novoselic and Smear with some unidentified person allegedly whispering to McCartney, ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’
