Are These The 50 Most Powerful People In Australian Music Right Now?

Written by Music Feeds on February 28, 2018

A who’s who of the Australian music industry have been named in The Music‘s annual Power 50, which today revealed its list of the most powerful players in Australia’s music game for 2018.

While no artists made the Power 50 this year, a variety of executives, promoters, agents, festival organisers, label heads and more have filled out the list.

This year’s Power 50 is topped by Sony Music Chairman and CEO Denis Handlin AO, after a big 2017 for the label, including huge success from acts like Gang Of Youths, Amy Shark, Tash Sultana and Amy Shark.

Second place went to Mushroom Group’s Michael Gudinski, while Secret Sounds CEOs Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco — AKA the peeps behind the likes of Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival — took out third place.

18 non-males have made the list, which is great to see. There were only two media personalities, however, with triple j‘s Music Director Nick Findlay making #17 and the ABC‘s Music Correspondent Zan Rowe taking out #47.
