A$AP Rocky Arrested In New York After Scuffle

Written by Mike Hohnen on July 20, 2012

Nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s BET Awards, A$AP Mob member A$AP Rocky is one of the most-anticipated rising stars currently in the game, and following a recent arrest, it appears everything is going to plan for his career. The rapper was arrested in New York last night after an altercation with some amateur photographers.

As TMZ tells it, the New York native and another man began exchanging heated words with two other individuals in the street, which was all well and good until two on-lookers began to film the whole thing. That wasn’t cool by Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, and his accomplice who turned on the photogs, both ending up with some cuts and grazes, though one wound up in the hospital.

Police were on the scene before anything serious could go down. Though the musician and his friend were nabbed for attempted robbery, TMZ said it’s unsure what they attempted to rob. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say probably the cameras they were filming it in. Maybe.
