The news comes after DeLonge took to social media earlier this year to praise Shark as “the next HUGE thing” after the two met when he was spending some time in Australia.
Speaking with The Music Podcast, massive Blink-182 fan Shark revealed that she and DeLonge have been in contact ever since they met and have been talking about the very real possibility of a collab.
“One of the last emails I have is from Tom,” she said. “I’ve been sending him demos and he was like, ‘Hey, I’m doing some more music. Maybe we can do something together.'”
Shark was quick to quash any suggestion that the idea was locked in, but sounded excited about the possibility nonetheless. “I don’t want to say that that’s gonna happen, ’cause I don’t wanna start rumours… but it’s amazing, it’s really hard to digest all that.”
The triple j Hottest 100 2016 runner-up also couldn’t help but ask DeLonge about his departure from Blink-182.
“It was really funny, because I was hammering him with a few questions and then I realised ‘What are you doing?’ and I said to him, ‘I’m really sorry for asking all these questions, you’re probably so sick of it.’ And he’s like, ‘I never talk about it with anyone. No one really asks me.'”
“It’s definitely not a write-off, him coming back,” Shark said. “That’s something we can hold on to I think”.
