Marianas Trench Headline Australian Shows 2012 – Fat As Butter

Making their maiden voyage Down Under for Fat As Butter Festival 2012, Canada’s Marianas Trench have today announced a series of headlining dates. The pop-punk outfit will be cruising through Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney following the Newcastle festivals.

The band has been one of Canada’s best kept secrets until only recently. Having debuted back in 2006, the band had hit platinum status by their 2nd album. Their most recent release, Ever After, has followed suit, with two singles Haven’t Had Enough and Ever After both smashing platinum.

Frontman Josh Ramsay was one of the masterminds behind Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe and has a rep for putting everything he’s got into the writing process, with Ever After being a concept album based on a story written by the vocalist, who described the release as “a warm throwback to the album era when your music was more than a bunch of orphaned songs sitting on an endless iPod playlist.”

Trenchers, as they’re called, can grab tix from July 27. Marianas Trench will be appearing at Fat As Butter before heading off to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, followed by The Zoo in Brizzy and The Metro Theatre in Sydney.
