Bruce ‘The Boss’ Springsteen used last night’s show in Adelaide to speak out against US President Donald Trump‘s so-called ‘Muslim ban’, which is currently preventing people from seven largely Muslim nations from entering the United States.
Speaking to the crowd at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre last night, Springsteen said, “Tonight we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting at airports around the country, the ‘Muslim Ban’ and the detention of foreign nationals and refugees.
“America is a nation of immigrants and we find this anti-democratic and fundamentally un-American.”
Springsteen’s comments came before he and The E Street Band performed their “immigrant song” ‘American Land’. You can watch video of his pre-song speech and delve into the show’s full setlist, below.
Springsteen had previously used the first show of his current Australian tour in Perth to praise the thousands of people who took part in Women’s March events around the world, telling the crowd, “We stand with you. We are the new American resistance.”
Springsteen, who says he has finished a new album, still has a string of shows left on his 2017 Australian tour, which heads to Melbourne, Sydney, Macedon, Brisbane and the Hunter Valley over the next few weeks.
