Ah, international timezones – they make fools of us all. As per our announcement of Tyler, The Creator‘s forthcoming sophomore album and the subsequent maiden single release, scrap the previously announced “tonight” timeframe and insert the “right now” one. Tyler has now fired off his first warning shot, titled Domo 23, complete with accompanying video feature.
Tyler opened up on his Twitter about the nerves he was feeling about his first new solo material in quite a while, even going as far to ask, “What if everyone hate it and I go broke?” But he had no reason to fear, ’cause after dropping the video online it was only a matter of minutes before Domo 23 started to trend on the micro-blogging service and, as of time of publishing, it is still trending. You did good, Tyler.
As you’d expect, the clip features the likes of Odd Future offsider Domo Genesis. In fact, the clip documents a wrestling match between Domo and Tyler, featuring none other than Earl Sweatshirt as the ref. He even manages to name-drop Aussie boys done good Tame Impala – classy.
Wolf is now available for pre-order through iTunes and the single is currently up for grabs. Not gonna lie – Domo 23 sets the bar high for the rest of the album, but Tyler isn’t the sort of dude to fizzle out over anything.
