Riton & Kah-Lo Announce Mountain Sounds Replacement Show

In the wake of Mountain Soundscancellation, artists on the lineup have been announcing replacement gigs so fans don’t have to miss out. Now, electronic duo Riton & Kah-Lo are joining the club, offering a last minute gig for regional NSW music fans.

The duo have been touring the country all week, already having knocked off dates in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, as well as playing Launceston’s Party In The Park festival. They were obviously supposed to play Mountain Sounds this coming Saturday, but instead they’re playing a special show in Newcastle – just an hour away from the festival’s venue – on Sunday.

Riton & Kah-lo are just the latest acts to announce replacement gigs for the cancelled festival. UK wildfire Yungblud announced his own gig in Newcastle, with support from Polish Club. Nothing But Thieves and What So Not also both announced replacement shows, albeit in Sydney.

Many artists have spoken out about the festival’s cancellation, and have deemed it the latest blow by NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the state government’s new strict regulations – which the government has now admitted are confusing – following the five deaths that occurred at festivals over the summer.

Northlane and Peking Duk, the latter of which headlined Mountain Sounds last year, have both released strong statements on social media condemning the government’s “war on festivals” and are calling for fans to vote them out at the state election next month. On top of that, many artists have supported the ‘Don’t Kill Live Music’ rally, which will be taking place in Sydney next Thursday.
