Music Feeds Podcast Episode #44 – Metric

Mighty Canadian dance-rockers Metric will soon be heading Down Under to embark on a run of tour dates in support of their fifth studio album, Synthetica. Before they touchdown, our own Mike Hohnen spoke to frontwoman Emily Haines for the latest Music Feeds Podcast.

Emily spoke to us from New York City, ahead of Metric’s performance at the world-famous Madison Square Garden, which Emily told us is something the band didn’t think would happen, figuring their performance at NYC’s equally famous Radio City Music Hall would be impossible to top.

After telling us about her love of Australians’ use of the word “cheeky,” Emily expanded on the “strange narrative” that Metric have with Australia, crediting Triple J’s picking-up on a pre-single leak of Help I’m Alive from the band’s fourth album, Fantasies, with creating a surge in their fan base.

Emily described Australia as a “really faraway friend that we keep going to visit,” and noted that Australia is the perfect place to end the year as well as the Synthetica tour, suggesting the final shows will be looser as the band no longer feel like they’re just promoting the new album.
