Melbourne-based six-piece Alpine have just announced that their debut LP titled A Is For Alpine will be released on Friday, August 10, 2012. To celebrate, Alpine will be hitting the road soon after on an extensive national tour. Bringing their hypnotising brand of indie rock/pop to 16 different venues, including Tasmania, Alpine will be joined by special guests Clubfeet & Georgi Kay.
Alpine have already made an impact on the airways with 2012 single Gasoline along with previous releases 2011’s Hands and 2010’s Villages. Now ready to unleash a full album’s worth of tunes, co-vocalist Pheobe Baker describes A Is For Alpine as a document of the band’s “innocent and not so innocent explorations through our early twenty-something emotions”.
Fellow band member Ryan Lamb explains that the debut album will give fans a glimpse at the different sides of the multifaceted band.
“It’s an introduction to us… We wanted to represent the different sides of our music, so there’s some sad moments, some dancy moments, some rocking out, and lots of harmonies. I think it’s a much more fun record than people will expect”, Lamb said.
The national tour comes shortly after Alpine just finished opening up for Matt Corby. In a recent performance at The Metro, Sydney, Alpine put on an entrancing set, with their live appeal sure to translate onto their debut record.
