Black Keys “There are Worse Bands Than Nickelback”

In a recent interview with MTV News Canada, blues rock duo The Black Keys were pressed to comment about being music snobs after their recent comments paying out Nickelback.

In a Rolling Stone cover story back in January, drummer Patrick Carney claimed that “Rock and roll is dying because people became okay with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world”.

Also saying, “Rock & roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don’t like to see it f**king ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit.”

When questioned about it with MTV, Carney says that he isn’t a music snob, but that he just doesn’t like bad music, before claiming that “I have a lot of friends and not one of them have a Nickelback record”. But before he’s tempted to have another dig, he says that he didn’t mean to single them out specifically, and that there are much worse bands than Nickelback.

You can watch the interview below.

Recent rumours about Black Keys visiting Australia again soon have included a headlining slot on Splendour in the Grass 2012, but more likely a tour in October or maybe a Big Day Out 2013 appearance.
