EMI Music Australia And Future Entertainment Form New Label ‘Future Music’

EMI Music Australia and Future Entertainment have come together to create a new label named Future Music. The industry heavyweights have launched the self-described ‘exclusive’ label with the intention of signing international and local talent, issuing special ticket offerings for associated events and releasing various compilations, along with many other aspirations.

EMI Music Australia represents some of Australian finest musical talent, such as Alison Wonderland, The Aston Shuffle and Empire of the Sun to name but a very few. Earlier this year EMI Music also established The EMI Dance Network, the first organisation solely dedicated to electronic dance music on a global scale.

Meanwhile Future Entertainment has been bringing high quality acts to Australia since its inception in 1993, including The Chemical Brothers, Swedish House Mafia, The Prodigy and New Order.

Here’s what the big-wigs had to say about the Future Music label.

“EMI has long been home to some of the most innovative, prolific and successful dance artists of our time. Similarly, Future Entertainment has forged longstanding relationships with many of these artists through years of touring and national music festivals such as Future Music and Summadayze. It makes complete sense for us to come together to form a powerful collaboration with EMI that, in essence, will work to develop even greater opportunities for our collective artists, audiences and music fans. Future Music will be a label that will find, develop and market artists with a clear view to deliver the year round soundtrack to festival and live music culture in Australia.” – Future Entertainment Director Brett Robinson.

“Future Entertainment, year after year, have delivered the highest calibre of dance music artists to Australian audiences. Since the inception of both the Summadayze and Future Music Festivals, Future Entertainment has continued to deliver not only the biggest and most recognised names in the business, has also endeavoured to nurture new talent and introduce breaking artists to the Australian market from all around the world. We’re really thrilled to be collaborating with the Future Team and love all the possibilities this partnership creates. Our collective knowledge, passion for the music and our years of experience across the business makes us a really potent force.” – EMI Music Chairman & Senior Vice President Marketing, Australasia, Mark Poston.
