Falls Festival 2018/2019 Lineup Announced

UPDATE: Falls Festival 2018/2019 Set Times Announced

ORIGINAL STORY: The lineup for the 26th annual Falls Festival is finally here, a few months out from the return of the touring summer shindig.

Headlined by R&B group Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, English rockers Catfish And The Bottlemen, Aussie folkster Vance Joy and indie heroes CHVRCHES, the lineup is set to make its way through Lorne (Victoria), Marion Bay (Tasmania), Byron Bay (New South Wales) and Fremantle (Western Australia) between December and January.

The roster also features international acts like ‘Africa’ legends Toto — who have come good on their promise to bless the rains down in Australia — and post-punk stalwarts Interpol, who recently teased Aussie tour plans off the back of their new album Marauder.

Meanwhile, Asian hip-hop collective 88rising, Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit and Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat will also all perform exclusively at Falls this year.

On the local front, Falls’ Australian contingent features Hilltop Hood, Flight Facilities, Amy Shark, DMA’S, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Golden Features, Ocean Alley and Hockey Dad, just to name a few.

Organisers say 48 per cent of the 40 acts announced on this year’s lineup contain at least one female member, and there are still more to be announced.

The 48 per cent milestone comes after a number of Falls acts backed Camp Cope’s calls for gender equality on festival lineups during last year’s Falls Festival.

Earlier this month, Falls organisers also announced a range of new safety measures for this year’s events, after a number of alleged assaults occurred at last year’s festival.

Aside from all of this year’s musical acts, organisers are also promising creative installations, visual arts, pop-up bars and beer gardens, “thoughtful” camping facilities, comedy clubs and more.
