It’s come time for Foo Fighters to embrace their natural career direction: disco. Wait, what?
Throwing themselves gleefully into disco ball goodness, Fooies are releasing a whole album of covers as the Dee Gees, releasing Hail Satin on July 17th. The record, while dedicated in part to honouring the legacy of the Gibb brothers, will also feature live recordings of the Foo Fighters’ latest record, Medicine At Midnight.
To give fans a taste of what it sounds like when the Grohl meets the Gibb, the band has released a video to accompany their version of the Bee Gees’ 1976 classic, ‘You Should Be Dancing’.
“We started recording the instrumental track, and then I thought ‘Okay, well I’m gonna go out and sing it…,'” Grohl explained in a recent chat with BBC Radio 2, about their choice of cover.
“Let me tell you, I have never, ever in my life sung like that, but it was the easiest song I have ever sung in my entire life!”
Watch the video below.
The 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame act have only 400 physical copies of the Hail Satin record available in Australia for Record Store Day, so if you want to get around the below, you gotta jump on it. For a refresher, check out the track listing below.
