Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Hospitalised, Cancels Show

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to hospital yesterday after complaining about stomach pains while in his room at the Majestic hotel in Bologna, Italy. Consequently, the band had to cancel a show. The two other band members posted a statement along with this video, saying:

“We sincerely apologize to our fans, but unfortunately due to illness Billie Joe has been hospitalized, and we regretfully must cancel our performance in Bologna, Italy this evening. We are beyond devastated and will make it up to you when we come back next summer.”

Of course some people thought he’d already died…

Last week the group surprised fans by performing an unscheduled appearance at the Reading Festival, and included two new tracks from forthcoming triple album ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre!, including Oh Love and Stay the Night, along with past hits such as American Idiot and Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

The new album is a follow-up to the band’s highly successful 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. Long-time producer Rob Cavallo has been helping with the recording in their hometown of Oakland, CA. ¡Uno! will be released on 25th September, with the next two following on 13th November and 15th January.
