South African rockers Kongos will be heading to our shores for their debut Australian tour this November playing dates in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide’s Handpicked Festival and will be joined by Melbourne indie-rockers Kingswood.
The four sons of South African singer John Kongos have been making waves of their own as a family band, sitting atop the US Billboard Alternative Charts with their million-selling single Come With Me Now, beating Lorde’s Royals in the process to become the fastest-ever ascent to number one by a debut artist in US chart history.
The track was actually released in 2012 in South Africa and somehow made its way to US airwaves this year. Since then, the band signed with Epic Records and re-released their debut studio album Lunatic. They are currently on tour with fellow family band Kings of Leon.
Kongos will be joined on Australian stages by Kingswood. Having played over one hundred shows in the past year including main stage for Splendour in the Grass and Big Day Out, Kingswood have been rocking out venues across Australia on their current sold out album tour. Their latest album, Microscopic Wars is out now.
By all accounts these shows will be a riot. See dates and ticket information below.
