Kvelertak Announce Australian Tour, September 2013

Metal fans, rejoice – your saviours Kvelertak are here, with the Norwegian hardcore and black metal 6-piece touring their visceral live show in Australia this September, playing dates in all corners of the country.

The tour is off the back of the release of their second studio effort Meir. Proving once again that Norway is synonymous with metal, Kvelertak (Norwegian for “stranglehold” or “chokehold”) have done a pretty sweet job of fusing just about every heavy genre in the book together to bring you something truly unique and totally ballsy.

They band have been rumoured to appear at Soundwave 2014 for a while – guess we can consider this an early present. They can also count Dave Grohl amongst their fans, though who doesn’t that guy like?

Tickets are on sale Thursday, 1st August at 9:00 AEST. They’re sure to go like hotcakes, so we’d suggest setting an alarm clock even though that’s totally not very metal. Don’t worry, we think Kvelertak will forgive you.

UPDATE: Supports for Kvelertak’s Australian tour have been announced! Queensland’s death metal and black metal destroyers Kyzer Soze will open in Brisbane. Totally Unicorn are supporting in Sydney. King Parrot‘s genre-defying thrash/grind/punk/hardcore sounds will be on display in Melbourne. SA hard rockers Life Pilot are hitting the stage before Kvelertak in Adelaide. And “blood-rockers” Chainsaw Hookers, known for their lyrics laced with horror movie themes, are the first name on the Perth bill.
