Listen to Broods’ New Single ‘Piece of My Mind’ from Forthcoming Album

Broods have returned with their first single in over two years, ‘Piece of My Mind’, which will feature on the duo’s upcoming fourth album Space Island.

The band’s latest is a deceptively shimmery cut, with big synths and anthemic hooks underscoring the song’s lyrical exploration of grief and denial.

“’Piece of My Mind’ is the opening fanfare of Space Island. The song describes the many paradoxes we encounter when we try to escape our problems – the more we try to run away from our problems and ourselves, the more we are confronted with the aspects of each that we don’t like,” explains the band’s Georgia Nott.

“‘Piece of My Mind’ is the moment I start reasoning with myself at the crossroads – to figure out where I am, and what’s really at the heart of what I’m denying and trying to escape.”

Nott goes on to say that production-wise, they wanted the single to sound like “you were on this kind of jet pack trip where everything is shifting.” To achieve this, the duo worked with Canadian producer Stint on the track, songwriting and production credits include songs with Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessie Ware, Demi Lovato and .

‘Piece of My Mind’ arrives alongside a vivid, sci fi-styled video shot on 35mm and 16mm film on the South Island of the duo’s native New Zealand. Check that out below.
