Rewind 80s Festival Australia Cancelled

The Australian version of the Rewind 80s Festival has been cancelled. Organisers have posted a comment on the festivals website stating Rewind Cancelled Please Contact Your Ticket Agent for a Refund. A full statement has yet to be released.

The cancellation comes after controversy last week about the sudden change of location for the festival. The original location for the event was set to be at Blue Scope Fields in Kembla Grange near Wollongong, but then a choice to move to Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion by organisers, due to bad weather, was made due to a majority of the ticket sales coming from that location.

A few days later, the Department of Fair Trading started investigating the festival in response to claims that tickets were not going to be refunded. The festival has since decided to do the right thing and offer punters a full refund on tickets.

Today a number of bands announced via Twitter that they would be pulling out of the event, which has now signified its end.

An official announcement will be released on Tuesday.
