Spotify Wrapped 2023: Australia’s Most Streamed Artists, Songs, Albums & Podcasts of the Year

Spotify has unveiled its 2023 Wrapped campaign, allowing individuals to reminisce on their most played songs, artists, genres and podcasts of the last 12 months. Spotify has also given us insight into the broader listening habits of users in Australia and around the globe. Taylor Swift dominates Spotify Wrapped 2023

For the second year running, Taylor Swift was the most-streamed artist in Australia. Swift’s streaming dominance was aided by the October 2022 release of her latest album Midnights, as well as the arrival of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in July and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in October.

Australian weren’t the only ones who couldn’t get enough of Swift – the American pop artist finished in pole position on Spotify’s global chart, bumping last year’s number one, Bad Bunny, who finished second. Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti was Spotify’s most streamed album globally in 2023, finishing ahead of Swift’s Midnights, SZA’s SOS, The Weeknd’s Starboy (2016) and KAROL G’s Mañana Será Bonito.

The Wiggles were Australia’s most streamed local act, followed by The Kid LAROI, Vance Joy, Flume and AC/DC. There were no Australian acts in the top ten most streamed artists globally. Joy’s ‘Riptide’ was the most streamed local song in Australia, while Miley Cyrus‘ ‘Flowers’ was the year’s most streamed song globally and in Australia.

Australia’s most popular podcast was The Joe Rogan Experience, followed by Call Her Daddy, Huberman Lab, Casefile True Crime and the locally-produced comedy podcast, The Inspired Unemployed. Rogan finished in top spot on the global podcast ranking, with Call Her Daddy and Huberman Lab trailing not far behind.
