As they gear up to release their sixth studio album, Oh! The Ocean, this Friday, 14th February, The Wombats have announced a huge tour of Australia for later this year to celebrate.
The chart-topping UK indie rock favourites, named after one of our fave native marsupials, will be returning to our shores this September/October, headlining stages in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, as well as making an appearance at SummerSalt Festival in a handful of regional areas, including Torquay, Tamborine, Lake Macquarie and Fremantle.
The Wombats – ‘Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want To Come’
Warming up crowds in Brisbane and throughout the SummerSalt Series will be Del Water Gap, while Bea and her Business and Ra Ra Viper will be joining the Liverpudlians on each stop on their headline run.
Tickets to the tour will go on sale from 12pm local time on Monday, 17th February, with an exclusive presale for Westfield members and eligible Mastercard and CommBank Yello customers. Fans can also sign up to access their own presale now via secretsounds.com (more details down below).
Oh! The Ocean is being hyped as The Wombats’ most sonically adventurous album yet. The title is inspired by a revelatory trip to the beach that frontman Murph took with his family, respresenting “a line in the sand from which The Wombats are sprinting onwards into a mature new phase”.
