Yesterday’s Coachella lineup drop sparked the usual alternating cries of “piss weak lineup” and “THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE”*, but no reaction has been as specific or pithy as Lil Jon’s recent effort. He’s filmed a reaction video for Funny Or Die, sipping on green tea as he peruses the lineup.
Lil Jon amps up the “Lil Jon” character while essentially just riffing on the names of the bands on the lineup. We suppose a man whose parents named him Jonathan Smith has no fear of reciprocal abuse. Thankfully the gags, while a little obvious, land most of the time.
He wants to know if Cloud Nothing is “where you store the contacts on your iPhone”. With Raekwon and Ghostface Killah on the bill, he rightly asks “Goddamn, why couldn’t y’all just get the whole fuckin’ Wu-Tang?” Claude VonStroke “sounds like a terrible porn name”.
“Coachella is no place for a motherfucking Panda Bear,” he cries. Too right — there is literally zero chance of fostering a successful breeding pair in a climate as arid as the Californian desert. Won’t someone think of the baby pandas?!
